What is a Grade A device?

Only the best for you & your company

At circulee you will find only first-class used laptops, smartphones and other hardware. All devices have been professionally tested and cleaned. Most of them originally come from company leases and are about 2 - 3 years old. They often meet higher standards than devices for the average end consumer (of course, they were used professionally).

Our grading partner performs extensive technical tests on the products - this is how we ensure that each product performs at full capacity and that nothing is defective. Of course, we completely reset the devices so that absolutely no residual data can be found on them. We also do this when you return a device to us. So your data is always in good hands.

The quality and performance testing of our certified partners is very thorough, so we can choose only the best products for circulee - and that's what we call Grade A. Because it is not so easy to understand these gradings, we have compiled our evaluation logic for you here. It is standardized along the entire value chain. So you have full transparency when you buy your hardware from us.

What we test

The testing is carried out by trained technicians using certified diagnostic software. Among other things, the following checks are performed:

  1. Check for cosmetic defects (e.g. scratches, dents, discoloration, etc.)

  2. Testing for complete technical functionality. Depending on the device type, the following are tested, among other things:

    • Battery (at least 80% remaining capacity, stress test)

    • Display (color test, pixel defects, dark spots, white spots)

    • Processor / CPU (including Cache, MMX, AVX, SSE, Register, Math Register, Stress)

    • Graphics card / GPU (including video data, basic rendering)

    • Hard drive / SSD (Funnel Seek, Linear Seek, Random Seek, Linear Read, Target Read, Cache, Status)

    • Main memory / RAM (including Address, Pattern, Advanced Pattern, Auxiliary Pattern, Bit High, Bit Low,

    • Checkerboard, Moving Inversion, Walking One Left, Walking One Right, Modulo20, Nibble Move, Stress)

    • CMOS (including checksum, pattern)

    • Motherboard / system board (including RTC IRQ Accuracy, TPM)

    • All ports (e.g. USB ports)

    • Keyboard, touchpad, buttons

    • Camera / webcam (focus, color fidelity)

    • Connectivity (WiFi / Bluetooth / NFC / Cellular)

    • Microphone and speaker (recording, playback)

    • etc.

  3. Check for device locks (e.g., MDM lock, BIOS lock, iCloud lock, etc.)

  4. Certified and GDPR-compliant data deletion

  5. Reinstallation of the (current) operating system including all necessary, device-specific drivers

  6. Complete cleaning of all parts

  7. We only release a device for sale once it has passed all checks.

Refurbished & Minor Signs of Wear

It is important to us that each device remains in circulation for as long as possible. The devices are in like-new condition and 100% functional.

The devices may, in some cases, show minimal traces of their previous use. This generally refers to slight cosmetic signs of wear, such as light scratches (e.g., on the casing), which, however, never impair functionality (i.e., no scratches on the screen).

Some of our devices also undergo professional cosmetic refurbishment. This means, for example, that the surfaces of the devices are re-wrapped or repainted.
